Dr. Dong is a world-renowned immunologist focused on the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying immune tolerance and immune responses. His research has led to new approaches of modulating the immune system in a variety of immune diseases and cancers. His discovery of Th17, its production of the inflammatory molecule IL17, and their central role in human diseases, earned Dr. Dong the AAI-BD Biosciences Investigator Award from The American Association of Immunologists (AAI) in 2009. He was the first Chinese scientist receiving this prestigious award. Dr. Dong has over 200 publications and was rated highly cited researcher for seven times.
